MDI wrapped summer placements, noticed jump by 24% in stipends

Management Development Institute (MDI) has completed its summer placements for its 234 students from the flagship PGPM course with an average stipend of around Rs. 1 lakh. Last year, the average stipend was somewhere around Rs. 80,000, besides, this year the students have received an average stipend of Rs. 1 lakh. A total of 120 companies offered internships and the highest stipend offered to student was Rs. 2 lakh, whereas last year it was Rs. 1.7 lakh.

Nearly, 48% of the batch was offered internships in sales and marketing profiles by leading FMCGs, telecom, banking and e-commerce. Some of the companies which offered profiles to students were Airtel, Asian Paints, Coco-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Flipkart, GlaxoSmithKline, PepsiCo, P&G, Tata Motors and Tata Steel.

In this batch, 23% students received offers for internship in the finance domain with firms such as American Express, Citi Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, Jones Lang La Salle, Langham, Capital, Nomura, RBS and SBI Capital Markets. The students receive offers for the roles such as investment banking, wholesale banking, retail banking, equity research, asset management, treasury, corporate finance, risk and private equity.

Students have not received many offers from the consulting domain but companies such as Avalon Consulting, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte US India, TCS, Technopark and Wipro did offer internships at MDI.

For General management profiles students received offers from Mahindra, Philips, Reliance Industries, Eli Lilly and RPG and Few others offered summer internships for general management profiles. The number of companies offering internship for operations and supply and chain roles noticed an increase of 14%. Some of the summer recruiters in this sector were Idea, Metlife, SAP, Aviva and Zovi.

Nearly 37 companies recruited interns from PGP HR batch of 59 students with an average and highest stipend of Rs. 95,900 and Rs. 1.5 lakh respectively. The major summer recruiters for students in the PGP HR stream offered in corporate HR, HR consulting and industrial relations. Some of the major recruiters were Adiyta Birla, Alcatel Lucent, Ernst & young, Godrej, IBM Consulting, KPMG, Nivea, Philips and Right Management.
